Our season opens with one of the most exciting young string quartets in the country today. 

 

Winners of many awards, they are also Junior Fellows at Trinity College of Music.

JOSEPH MIDDLETON – PIANO

 

All lovers of the operatic repertoire should come and hear Clara sing.  She has performed with Plácido Domingo in Madrid and is a rising star.  Joseph has been described as the ‘cream of the new generation’. 

 

Their programme is entitled "Colours of Iberia" and will include songs by Schumann and Bizet

THE TORUS DUO

The Torus Duo are International chamber music competition prizewinners. Russian born Dmitri followed his musician father to the West in1995 and the International Chopin Society described Sonja as ‘a unique talent, she is a born artist’.

Described as ‘exceptionally talented’ by BBC Music magazine, the Pavão’s CDs have reached the bestseller list of HMV records.  They have regularly appeared on TV with performers such as Andrea Bocelli and toured as far as China.

JOHN FLINDERS – PIANO

John has a busy and wide-ranging career. He has appeared on BBC TV, Radio 3 and Classic FM, and has performed in Japan, Turkey, Croatia and South America.  His latest CD (with Victoria Soames - Samek) was a great success. John is also the Assistant Music Director of the early opera group Opera Restor’d, and is the accompanist for several prestigious music courses notably Dartington International Summer School and the Benslow Baroque project.

JAMES TURNBULL – OBOE

CRAIG WHITE – PIANO

James has studied in Germany since graduating from the Royal Academy of Music and also won

a place on the London Symphony Orchestra Training Scheme.  Craig studied music at Oxford and was recently selected to perform at the Schubert Festival

in London.

 

Their programme is called "The Romantic Oboe – Schuman and his Legacy".

THE LYDIAN PIANO TRIO

A welcome return visit by these accomplished musicians who have established a reputation of the highest calibre. Catherine was sub-principal cellist in the London Philharmonic Orchestra before becoming a freelance musician.  Anna performs with the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and Helen has a busy career as a teacher, accompanist and member of several chamber ensembles.

 

Music by Beethoven, Suk, Arnold and Brahms
